Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dancing, London and the Accademia Nazionale di Danza, Rome. Further studies in New York.

 

Professional Engagements: 

Soloist with Boris Tonin's Balletto Europeo.

Engagements  in Italy at various Opera Houses (Rome Opera House, La Scala, Milan, Teatro Regio, Parma, The Arena of Verona) and at the Joyce Theatre New York with the Carol Fonda Company.

Since 1992 she has been the choreographer  for the Rome Opera Festival.

Operas include the following: “The Merry Widow”, “The Magic Flute, “ “Hansel and Gretel ”, “The Marriage of Figaro”, “Die Fledermaus”, “L'Elisir  d'Amore”, “Cosi Fan Tutte”, “Carmen”,  “Firebird”, “Tristan and Isolde,”  “Cinderella”, “Strauss Waltzes”.

Her repertory also includes: “Aida”, “Carmina Burana” and the operettas “Il paese dei campanelli”  and “Cincilla”.

Since 2000 she has provided the choreographic movements for  “Tutti a Santa Cecilia”, the educational sector of the  Accademia of Santa Cecilia of Rome,  in their childrens performances.

In March 2005 she choreographed the opera  “La Nave a tre Piani”  by Carlo Boccadoro, produced by the Accademia of Santa Cecilia, and which had its world premiere at the Auditorium of Rome.  In 2006 she created the dances for “ Music and Arts”,  a project for schools organised by the Accademia of Santa Cecilia,  with music by Ada Gentile  and Adriano  Pupillo.

In February 2008 she was the choreographer and production assistant  for the show “Tubeo and Violetta” produced at Santa Cecilia with music and direction by Maestro  Aldo Tarabella.

She directs the international competition for young solo dancers  “Danzare Interpretando”  and the travelling  Festival for dance schools in Italy  “Divertiamoci con l'arte”.

Responsible for organising dance courses in classical ballet in schools around Italy, and  is often requested  to form part of examining boards and to  adjudicate competitions.

Ballet lesson CD's and Videos:

“Pas de deux lessons” is the first Video guide to a Pas de Deux lesson, and the “Classical Dance lessons on Video” is the first guide to  a classical dance lesson on DVD which has an Italian commentary. “Pointwork lessons on Video” is the first and only Video guide  of this nature  entirely in Italian, “Classical dance lessons on video for male dancers” . “Classical dance for  beginners”, "Classical for kids " and “Classical Dance lessons on Video - second part"

 

Degree in Italian Literature  at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.

Luisa Signorelli is the director and choreographer of the Company   Ballet-ex, which she established recently,  creating  new choreography and entire ballets. The company has appeared at important venues in Italy e abroad.
